What is a regular college?

A regular college is a college which only focuses on the book learning, including they have fix syllabus which students need to cover in time.

These colleges do not allow students to perform their own experiments and researches. They just focus on rote learning.

I don't think there is any need for explaining the details about regular colleges;

All regular colleges are same they control everything, plus they don't allow students to choose courses according to them, and their syllabus is fixed.
  1.  Regular colleges follow the method of rote memorization plus they use rigid methods of teaching.
  2. Book learning is their mantra and they don't focus on the overall growth of students.
  3.  The main aim of regular colleges is to produce job seekers not entrepreneurs.
  4.  regular colleges have more limitations than autonomous colleges.

So, you must choose your college carefully because your college is going to decide your future.

I have wasted my 3 years of graduation in a regular college, and now their book learning is not helping me to fix my current problem.

And It's the truth that students from regular colleges have fewer chances of getting jobs because they don't have experience of real site situations. Also, they lack the courage to face the world.

So they just focus on getting a government job by any means.

How to get admission in an autonomous college in India?

As in India, there are only a few autonomous colleges, so the competition is quite high for getting into an autonomous college you need good scores.

Up to 90+ in class 12 and need a good grip over books because they conduct entrance exams+ PI to take new admissions.

There are no short cuts to get into an autonomous college.

Is it reasonable to choose an autonomous college over regular college?

If you have a chance to choose, then you must go with an autonomous college, because you have many benefits of autonomous college as compare to a regular college. Furthermore; they focus on your overall progress and on your skills.
