Why note-making is important for students to excel in exams?

It's imperative to know what is note-making and why it's so essential for students?

After getting many questions on note-making, I have decided to share a few things with you all about note-making, and a proper way of note-making.

I know that you may have passed through many posts stating various reasons; why you should take notes and why notes are so important for your board exams and for other competitive exams as well.

Before starting this post, I want you to comment below the post. If you find it helpful. Plus if you are still studying in a college or in school.

Let's start's

Why note-making is important for students

What is note-making?

As you know that note-making is the simple way of collecting important points from the topic which you are studying from any book, newspaper, magazine and from any teacher.

Note making is done in various forms?

1. By highlighting the main points in the book.
2. By writing down notes on the paper.
3. By reading the book and making notes in your own language.

3rd one is the more pure and perfect form of taking notes, why?

Only because it allows you to use your mind and express a topic in your own language, which is only possible by the right amount of understanding and knowledge of that topic.

1. By highlighting the main points in the book by highlighter or pencil.

This is the most common and the laziest form of note-making because it does not require any efforts. You only need to underline what you think is important or may appear in the exam.

That's why this note-making process is not very useful, as students don't get time to open books during exams or at the last moment.

So, the notes that you have underlined, you never get time to go through them again. Plus when you highlight these notes, you ignore chapter because you believe you'll read them in the future.

Because of that, you lend less attention to the topic plus to that chapter.

2. Writing down notes on paper while reading.

This is quite better than the above one, simply because in this you take real notes while reading any chapter from your book.

This works well because you take real notes which you can revise later, and even every day in the morning or before starting your daily studies.

The point here is, notes that you take you must revise them from time to time. If you don't revise your notes than they don't work for you, it's as simple as that.

Because if you don't have time to revise your notes it means you have wasted three things while preparing those notes, pen, paper and time.

3. Reading the chapter and after that, making notes in your own language.

This form of note-making is best because it ensures that you have understood the chapter, and then you are making notes.

Furthermore, this also improves your way of expressing your answers, which is best for your board exams, entrance exams and for top-level exams like UPSC and other college entrance exams

So, if you are thinking about appearing for any entrance exam in future, then you must work on this note-making.

In my opinion, this is the proper way of making notes because in this you are aware of words that you're writing, also you have control over these words, therefore you can write them as it is, anywhere anytime.

Moreover, if you are planning to make notes of any topic, then you must make notes in this way only. And try to get familiar with the note-making process.

Now, why note making is essential?

As you know, we read a lot of things daily during our examinations and even on normal days. These reads involve course books and material outside the course.

And sometimes we feel there are certain important points, and we want to take notes of these points for that reason we make notes.

Furthermore, Notes plays a precise role in the success of a student.

Those students who keep notes of topics are more effective than those who don't follow the notes.

Notes play a very vital role in scoring good marks as well. Also reduces the time of revision because, by self-prepared notes, you can quickly finish the topic in no time.

If you are aware of the important entrance exams, then you must be mindful that they all have a very vast syllabus including for remembering all that stuff, one must have a good habit of preparing notes

What is the proper way of taking notes?

As I have shared three ways above of note-making, the 3rd one is the best from them. But there are other ways as well, which you must try.
  1. Making notes according to exams.
  2. Making notes for revision.
  3. Making notes for higher education and planning things.

1. Making notes according to exams.

Many of you may be thinking? what is note-making according to exams?

This simply means you make notes according to the nature of exams, which is done by analyzing previous year exams plus solving mock test books.

Which includes books like, chapter-wise solution and some other books only meant for examination purpose.

You need to use these books to plan your strategy according to topics. Plus, you must check the dates of questions constantly repeating.

This strategy works very well for all exams because you get the pre-idea and the nature of questions, which are going to fall in the exam for which you are preparing from years.

2. Making notes for revision.

You must take short notes for revision while reading any chapter furthermore make sure you are repeating them just after you finish your topic.

Why?

Simply because this improves the understanding level of the chapter; Moreover raises your chances of scoring well in your board exams as well as in various other exams.

3. Making notes for higher education and planning things.

This one is quite important, as you know that everything that comes in your entrance exams, plus in the competitive exams is the combination of junior classes, class 8th, class 9th and of class 11th and class 12th.

Which means if you are in class 9th, now, then you must make sure to keep notes of important topics like, Laws of motion, and other essential topics of math. If you are planning to appear for exams like JEE, NDA, NEET etc.

Because these all topics play a vital role in higher studies, plus in entrance exams.

Things you must consider while note-making

  1. Read the notes after preparing them.
  2. Keep notes on your tips.
  3. Do not take notes if you don't need them because it's also a kind of a waste of time.
  4. Effective note-making works for scoring good in all exams.
  5. Do not copy notes from others.
  6. Try preparing your own notes.
  7. Do not try to copybook in your notes because it's pathetic, and it's a wrong way of preparing notes.

Note;

Do not copy notes from others because everyone is different, and everyone has different problems, and they make their notes according to that. Something which is hard for them can be a piece of cake for you.  And something which hard for you can be easy for them.

So Never copy notes from others, Always prepare your own notes.

Is note-making important?

Not for all, those who get the topics in one go they have no need to make notes at all, besides if you don't get the topics than you must make notes.

What sort of notes you need to take?

Some of you may be confused about taking notes between the entire chapter or topic wise notes.

You must understand this, you only need to take notes of those things which you feel are difficult for you or you want to repeat them again.

So stop getting confused for small things.
