Lucknow, July 3, 2025 – The Uttar Pradesh government has elevated 63 Tehsildars to the rank of Sub-Divisional Magistrates (SDMs), strengthening the state’s administrative framework. The promotions, announced on June 30, 2025, by IAS officer Annapurna Garg, Special Secretary (Appointments), followed a Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) meeting held on June 26, 2025, under the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC). The newly promoted SDMs will serve a two-year probation period with a pay scale of Rs 56,100–1,77,500 (Level-10, 7th Pay Commission).

Note: Praduman Kumar and Shraddha Pandey received notional promotions to align their seniority with juniors promoted earlier.

These SDMs will oversee revenue administration, law and order, and development activities in their respective sub-divisions, reporting to District Magistrates. The promotions fill 63 of the 64 planned SDM vacancies for 2024-25 through the promotion quota. This move underscores the Yogi Adityanath government’s commitment to enhancing administrative efficiency and rewarding dedicated service in the Provincial Civil Service cadre.
