Eligibility Criteria
CBSE is looking for officers from Central/State Governments, UT Administrations, Central/State Autonomous or Statutory Organizations, Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), or government-run educational institutions. Candidates must meet one of the following service criteria:
- Holding an analogous post (equivalent to Joint Secretary).
- At least 5 years of regular service in Pay Level-12 of 7th CPC (PB-3 ₹15,600–39,100 + ₹7,600 Grade Pay as per 6th CPC).
- At least 10 years of regular service in Pay Level-11 of 7th CPC (PB-3 ₹15,600–39,100 + ₹6,600 Grade Pay as per 6th CPC).
Additionally, candidates must have experience in:
- Conducting public examinations or planning examination policies.
- Functioning of school boards.
- Administration, including general administration, accounts, court/legal matters, or vigilance.
Age Limit
- Maximum Age: 56 years as of the closing date of application (May 29, 2025).
Restrictions
- Departmental officers in the direct line of promotion are not eligible.
- Current deputationists cannot apply for this deputation-based role.
- There is no provision for absorption into CBSE for this post.
Application Process
Applications are accepted online only through the CBSE website (www.cbse.nic.in) from May 8, 2025, to May 29, 2025. No other mode of application will be entertained. Here’s how to apply:
- Visit www.cbse.nic.in and read the vacancy notification carefully.
- Click on “Apply Online” and fill out the application form with accurate details.
- Upload self-attested copies of:
- Educational qualifications.
- Experience certificates (in the prescribed proforma, Annexure-I).
- Last 5 years’ ACRs, vigilance clearance, and a list of major/minor penalties (if any) from the last 10 years.
- No Objection Certificate (NOC) and APARs from the parent department (if not uploaded, these must be produced at the interview).
- Submit the form to receive a unique registration number (note it down).
- Print the system-generated application form, affix a recent passport-size photograph (less than 3 months old), and sign it.

Selection Process
