Vineet Joshi, assistant secretary in the Ministry of Education, has been appointed head of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), the ministry stated on Monday.

Joshi's appointment follows the appointment of his predecessor, Manoj Ahuja, as the OSD in the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare. "As a result of Manoj Ahuja's resignation as CBSE chairman, the task has been assigned to Vineet Joshi, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Education, in addition to his existing responsibilities," the ministry said in official order.
Joshi, an IAS officer from the 1992 batch, had previously served as the CBSE chairperson. He is currently the Director-General of the National Testing Agency (NTA), as well as the Institutes of Eminence (IoE) and the Higher Education Funding Agency (HEFA), among other higher education verticals.
